Magdalen College School holds information on our former pupils and former parents to enable us to keep Old Waynfletes and former parents connected with one another and with the School. We use the data to organise alumni events, and in support of the School’s activities, including careers, outreach and fundraising programmes. Your privacy and the security of all information that you give to us are of vital importance to Magdalen College School. Your personal information will be held on the school’s database in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Security measures to protect your personal information and privacy are in place and will be used for Alumni and Development purposes.  We will not publicise your data to any third party or other organisation.

For OWs: You can opt not to receive email communications by clicking here. If you would also prefer not to receive postal mailings, please email the Waynflete Office.  Former Parents should email the Waynflete Office if they would prefer not to receive communications from MCS.

By default, and unless you inform us otherwise, your name, year group, email address and country will be made available to other OWs logged in to this website through the online OW Search. Members can opt out of this search so that the details above do not appear on this website, which is a secure, password-protected site. OWs are expected to treat information about other members as confidential and agree not to disclose it to external parties. OWs who gather information from this site should realise and respect that this is privileged and confidential and must not be passed on to any third party outside of our alumni community. Any information downloaded must not be stored longer than is immediately necessary to use for the legitimate nature of communicating with another OW.

On our web pages, we provide links to other servers which may contain information of interest to our readers. We take no responsibility for, and exercise no control over, the organisations, views, or accuracy of the information contained on other servers.

We do not collect personally identifying information about you when you visit our site, unless you choose to provide such information to us. Providing such information is strictly voluntary. We may collect, store and use the following kinds of personal data:

The school is registered with the Fundraising Regulator and is taking steps to comply with new data protection regulation that comes into effect in May 2018. 

All financial transactions made on the OW & Friends website are handled through our secure payment services provider, Blackbaud Merchant Services (BBMS).  We will share information with BBMS only to the extent necessary for the purposes of processing payments you make via our website.

We will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. We will store all the personal information you provide on our secure (password- and firewall- protected) servers. Of course, data transmission over the internet is inherently insecure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of data sent over the internet. You are responsible for keeping your password and user details confidential. We will not ask you for your password in email communications or over the phone.

Data protection

All data held by the Waynflete Office is held securely and will be treated with confidentiality and sensitivity. Your data is used solely to further the objects of the School and the OW Club. We will not sell your data to third party organisations. We will not pass your data to third party organisations outside the OW Community except when they are contracted by Magdalen College School for specific alumni-related and fundraising projects, which include event information, communications such as The Bridge, checking address data against public information sources, school surveys and to assess propensity to support the school. Under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 you have the right to object to the use of your data for any of the above purposes.
